TOPS AT ARLINGTON — March 2-3 ALL-AROUND COWBOY Rhen Richard BY TRACY RENCK T he immense spotlight of The American wasn’t too big for team roping header Coleman Proctor and heeler Ryan Motes. The duo made ever-lasting memories with their performance in Arlington, Texas, March 3. Coleman and Motes won the four-team shootout round with a 4.24-second time that triggered a windfall at AT&T Stadium. Proctor and Motes each won $100,000 for winning the event and earned an additional $333,333. As qualifiers for The American, Proctor and Motes had a chance to win $1 million. They split that $1 million three ways with bull riding qualifier Joao Ricado Vieira. “I finally did my job (March 3), and I’m just so excited,” Proctor said. “Ryan did a great job. He reads the situation so well. Having a great heeler and a great horse and a veteran in this type of situation was huge.
