PASSING TIME WITHOUT RODEO

TUFF HARDMAN WORKING THE RANCH • Steer roping permit holder, 28, from Atoka, Okla.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to take a little break from rodeos due to the virus. Not much has changed around the T-H Ranch, other than time slowing down on weekends from lack of rodeo. It’s still business as usual – shoeing horses, breaking colts and day working. I’ve been preparing for when competitions resume by preparing our newest addition, Kodak. What better way to get them trained than dragging a few calves? I’m also enjoying downtime with my daughters Taylee, 6, and TyAnn, 2, teaching them the ropes and the ways of ranch life. But, I am getting some cabin fever and am ready to break back out into steer roping.

WESTON TAYLOR HELPS QUENCH CACE’S THIRST • Prairie Circuit steer wrestler from Perryton, Texas While filling up water for our

bulldogging steers, our son Cace Dale Taylor (born September 2018) got a little thirsty. My wife, Kinzy, and I have a farm and run cattle here, and I run a custom spraying business for field crops. It’s pretty busy since they’re planting corn now and then cotton in a week or so. It hasn’t slowed down much for me except for not getting to go to any rodeos. I’ve had the same horse since the end of my first year of competition 12 years ago, called Powerball. Cace will sit on him some, but he’s a little watchy. If you don’t lock the back door, Cace will go down to the horse pens. He likes my hazing horse, Newt, best and goes right to him, but that horse is kind of watchy and can spook easily, but Cace just goes right up to him.
