DREAM MEETINGS Who to Dine With? Cowboys and who they want to sit down with for a meal

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world – dead or alive – who would it be and why? ProRodeo Sports News posed that question to PRCA cowboys to peel back a layer into their thinking and let fans get to know them better.

RILEY PRUITT Tie-down roper, two-time qualifier for Wrangler NFR (2016 and 2019) That’s a good one. I would have to say Alexander the Great (king of the ancient Greek Kingdom who created one of the largest empires of the ancient world). I would ask him about when he was younger, what was his mindset that he had to conqueror the world? I know I would be nervous talking to him. I think it would be harder for me to ask him questions than it was for me roping at the NFR. Alexander the Great was able to take and rule everything, and the ability to have that control, that power and that mindset would be fun to learn from. TYLER WAGUESPACK Steer wrestler, two-time PRCA world champ (2016 and 2018) and five-time Wrangler NFR qualifier (2015-19) I would say my wife, (NFR barrel racer) Sarah Rose McDonald. We were married in November 2018. Our first dinner date was in Canby, Ore. She and I were both hungry, and we decided to go get something to eat. We still laugh about it to this day because Panda Express was the first place we went on a date. We were in a rush, trying to get back to the slack at the rodeo. Now, every time we eat at Panda Express, we joke about the first time we ate there. Now, she and I like to eat at the good, old-school seafood restaurants we have around the house (in Gonzales, La.). We both really enjoy those. She leans more toward eating the different types of shrimp and crab dips and I’m a big oyster person.

SHANE HANCHEY Tie-down roper, 2013 PRCA world champ and 10-time qualifier for the Wrangler NFR (2010-19) I would probably have to say Drew Brees, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints. The kind of athlete he is and the kind of person he is off the field are the main reasons why I would want to have dinner with him. Initially, I think I would be a little star-struck, but I think we would warm up good to one another. I would ask him a lot about his mental toughness. Then, on the business side of things, I would ask what he looks for. He’s in a lot of business ventures and a lot of restaurants, and I think we would have a lot more in common than I probably think. TY HARRIS Tie-down roper, made his Wrangler NFR debut in 2019 I would say quarterback Tom Brady (six-time Super Bowl champ, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). I feel like he’s the ultimate competitor in and out of the arena, and I feel like he’s a class act. He’s made the most of his talent. He’s a guy who didn’t come in at the top of the NFL Draft. He was taken in the sixth round (No. 199 overall). I just feel what he’s done with his talent and potential, he’s maximized all of it. He’s an overachiever, whereas a lot of guys don’t use their full talent and ability in my opinion. I don’t really get that nervous talking to people, and I would just try and remind myself, he’s a normal person. I know I would be excited to ask him questions at dinner, but I don’t think I would be too nervous. – Tracy Renck
