At the 1993 National Finals Rodeo, the Stephenville, Texas, cowboy drew a bull in the fifth-round he had ridden to a high score in Nampa, Idaho, earlier in the year. It was a matchup he hoped would be to his advantage in a tight race for the world championship. He was right, just not in the way he thought. The bull stumbled early, but Murray stayed on long enough to record a score with the option of a re-ride. His initial effort placed him fourth in the round, meaning he had secured money. To some, that might be enough.
