April 29-30. Greenfield took the win with his 5.2-second run in the four-man semifinals at Cowtown Coliseum. “It was a great experience to win that event,” Kaden said. “It was a cool atmosphere down there and just to be around that environment. I knew I had to go out there and make a run (in the finals) that I knew I was capable of doing and see where it would end up. Things worked out for me.” Landris White (7.4 seconds) and QuentinWheeler (9.2) finished second and third, respectively. The top eight contestants in each event were then brought back to compete in the semifinals on April 30 with the top four then advancing to the championship round that same performance. Greenfield earned $2,789 – $2,500 for winning the finals – at the Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup presented by Resistol.

Money won during the Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup presented by Resistol counts towards the Resistol Rookie Standings but will not be credited toward the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings for NFR qualification. “That’s good to earn that kind of money and having it go towards the rookie standings, that’s every person’s goal when they buy their card that first year is to win the rookie of the year,” the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Greenfield said. “So, that money does really help.” Greenfield was riding his horse, Rev, 16. “The plan is definitely to go way harder this season than I did the last two years on my permit,” said Greenfield, who also is competing on the college rodeo team at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. “This win hopefully will help me get my summer run rolling.” Greenfield, a native of Lakeview, Ore., attended two years of school at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore., before transferring to Northwestern Oklahoma State last fall.

He finished career-best second in the world standings in 2011. “Steer wrestling has always been in our family, and I followed in my dad’s footsteps,” said Kaden, 21. “It’s always nice to have someone like him in your corner. He did it at the highest level and he knows what you have to do to succeed.” Kaden had his talent on full display winning the inaugural Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup presented by Resistol in Fort Worth, Texas, Greenfield wins Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup
