SALLY ROSITA MARVEL FREEMAN Sally Rosita Marvel Freeman, known as “Mustang Sally,” was born on Dec. 8, 1952, in Battle Mountain, Nev., and passed away April 14. She was one

Gee was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Robert and Marie T. (Stein) Gee. After high school, Gee headed to Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University, Fort Collins), rodeoing with the school team. During his three years there, CSU won a national team title while Gee won two national championships in steer wrestling and finished as runner-up in a third. He served one year as the NIRA president. Gee attended Ohio State University to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He worked in Great Falls, Mont., for Dr. Doran. In 1963, Gee bought his practice in Stanford, Mont. On May 14, 1964, John married Jo Ann Cremer, partnering in life for 50 years. Jo Ann passed away June 14, 2014. John rodeoed in the Montana Circuit and Canada as he could while committing to his family and business. In 1975, he was the first Montana Circuit steer wrestling year-end champion. He also competed in bull riding and bareback riding. He was inducted into the Colorado State Rodeo Hall of Fame in February. Gee was a man of faith and an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was instrumental in building the fairgrounds and a founding member of the Stampede Club. He enjoyed being active with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann; son, Leo; parents, Bob and Marie. Gee is survived by his son, John (Lisa); daughters Maria (Randy) Taylor andTheresa (Mike) O’Neill; grandchildren Caleb (Jessica) Gee, Meghan (Tyler) Dellen, Luke Gee, Kelli, Reid, Grant and Grace O’Neill, and Ivan Taylor; great-granddaughter, Havanna Dellen; sibling, Anne Gee-Byrd; and niece, Jennifer Byrd. Services will be announced at a later date. Memorials in John’s honor may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Freeman grew up on the Martin Ranch and the 25 Ranch in Nevada, where she was instilled with toughness and grit from her father and a sense of style and a strong faith in God from her mother. She was raised to be a tough, fearless cowgirl. She roped her first mustang when she was 14 and became a renowned cutting-horse trainer. Freeman spent many years with her kids and grandkids training their horses and practicing with them as they competed and succeeded in high school, college and professional rodeo. She also started her own fashion line and helped her youngest daughter, Quincy, start a western brand: Rodeo Quincy. Freeman made the Central Valley of California her home with the love of her life and husband, Bill, with whom she shared many wonderful years on their cattle ranch in Reedley. She is survived by children Pete Holman, Holly Crawford and Quincy Eldridge;
