Finnerty was an active member of the Platte
grandparents, Louise Finnerty and Neil E. Williams. He is survived by his father, Dean (Rachael Settles) Finnerty; mother, Dawn (Gavin) Carmichael; brother, Tel Finnerty; paternal grandfather, Jack Finnerty; and maternal grandparents, Jack and Phyllis Shinn. In the fall of 2015, Finnerty was enrolled at Central Wyoming College (CWC) in Riverton, where he was a leading member of the rodeo team. He competed in steer wrestling, tie-down roping and team roping with CWC for two years. Upon graduation, Finnerty worked on the family ranch in Wheatland. He also pursued his passion of welding. In February 2018, Finnerty pursued his rodeo career by moving to Decatur, Texas, to hone his steer wrestling skills. In March, Finnerty moved to Whitman, Ariz., where he continued his plans as a cowboy. Finnerty was planning to continue his education and rodeo career in the fall at the University of Wyoming, where he was a scholarship recipient.
