Weishoff named 2024 Committeeman of Year

Matt Weishoff, the director of livestock for the St. Paul (Ore.) Rodeo, has been selected as the PRCA’s 2024 John Justin Standard of the West Committeeman of the Year. Justin Boots created the John Justin Standard of the West program to recognize the hundreds of thousands of hours of work that volunteer rodeo committee members donate to put on rodeos.

The NFR Open is scheduled for July 8-12 at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The contract personnel for the NFR “I’m very humbled to receive this award,” Weishoff said. “I rodeoed for over 20 years and never really imagined that I would be honored as Committeeman of the Year. “I am blessed with a great committee and board of directors as well as a fantastic general manager. They put a lot of time and effort in our rodeo. So, I’m having a hard time accepting this on my own. It feels like it’s a group effort for sure.” Weishoff’s rodeo career has spanned nearly four decades. He started as a contest- ant, riding bareback horses in the PRCA for almost 20 years. Since then, he has spent time working as a judge and still does to this day. He’s been the Director of Livestock in St. Paul for the last seven years. The rodeo received the Polaris Remuda Award back in 2019 for assembling the best pen of bucking

PRCA rodeos vote on the individual to receive the PRCA’s John Justin Committeeman of the Year Award, whose dedication represents the deeds of those volunteers. Weishoff will be recognized at the PRCA Awards Banquet, the event will be held Dec. 4 at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas leading up to the 2024 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
