Great Ride North BY SCOTT KANIEWSKI W acey Finkbeiner entered the Canadian Finals Rodeo in seventh place in the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association. He was nearly $15,000 behind leader Jared Parsonage, Finkbeiner’s friend and traveling partner. But with the money available at the CFR, Finkbeiner knew his first CPRA title wasn’t out of reach. Then he went out and proved it. Finkbeiner won the CFR aggregate and ultimately the CPRA title. “It’s pretty special,” said Finkbeiner, 26. “I came into the finals in seventh and climbed the ladder to first. It was a good week.” After kicking off the rodeo with a second-place finish in Round 1 and winning both Rounds 2 and 3, Finkbeiner won $35,100 in round money, $15,795 for the aggregate and his first CPRA championship buckle. Finkbeiner’s early-round success was no surprise to Parsonage. Finkbeiner notches first CPRA title
