NUMBERS Heading to the NFR T he 60th edition of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is right around the corner. As the 2018 regular season concluded and the PRCA | RAM World Standings were finalized, the numbers painted a vivid picture of how intense PRCA competition was and how important it was for cowboys to build a strong lead early in the season if they wanted a shot at qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Except for barrel racing, 20 of this year’s NFR qualifiers have been in the Top 15 the entire season, according to each week’s world standings update. The majority of this year’s qualifiers across all events were established by the end of Cowboy Christmas. The following are just some of the highlights about the 2018 batch of Top 15 cowboys for each event from Dec. 19, 2017, through Oct. 1, 2018. BY MATT NABER
