RODEO ROUNDUP

Roscoe Jarboe was picking up every ride he could before the PRCA regular season ended Sept. 30. It’s coming down to the wire for the 25-year-old bull rider, who was sitting on the bubble for a Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification. Being the only bull rider to make the eight-second whistle at the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas, might have given Jarboe the boost he needed to stay in the Top 15. “We all showed up to do our job that night and every night before that. So just to get my bull ridden and be the only one, that doesn’t happen very often I’d say,” Jarboe said. “So, I was excited about it, made me happy.” Jarboe also took a victory at Young Living’s Last Chance Rodeo in Mona, Utah, with 89.5 points on Bar T Rodeo’s Goofy. Living up to the Mona rodeo’s name, Jarboe is making his last chance

to qualify count after adding nearly $10,000 to his season earnings total with the two wins. With such a successful week, it’s hard to believe the season has been anything but picture perfect for Jarboe. In just the month of September, Jarboe has had to battle multiple injuries. On top of that, he didn’t have the opportunity to compete at the ProRodeo Tour Finale in Salinas, Calif. While some cowboys may have called it quits, Jarboe said that’s just not his style. “I just don’t think it’s in me to throw in the towel. I’m not one to give up when your ship’s starting to sink,” Jarboe said. “I’m obviously pretty glad I didn’t, even though I don’t think I would’ve, ever.” – Ally Gallagher, Special to ProRodeo Sports News
