Boudreaux Campbell claims first Xtreme Bulls Tour championship Checked Off

BY TRACY RENCK T his wasn’t what Boudreaux Campbell had in mind for how he wanted to finish the 2020 Xtreme Bulls Tour. While Campbell failed to earn a check at the Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale in Nephi, Utah, Sept. 19, he won enough money early in the tour to claim his first Xtreme Bulls Tour title. “It feels good to be the Xtreme Bulls Tour champion,” said Campbell, 22. “I’m glad I’m able to get this off my bucket list. I just wish I could have finished a little better at the (Finale), but it was still nice to get the (year-end) title. It has been a goal of mine since I was a little kid that once I got to the ProRodeo level I wanted to win everything I could, and this was something at the ProRodeo level I needed to win. I’m glad I got it done.” Josh Frost won the Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale in Nephi with 174.5 points on two head. Frost earned $13,113. He clinched the victory with an 89-point ride on Diamond G Rodeo’s Three Days, which was the top ride in the 12-man short round. Three Days had been ridden only once in 26 outs since 2018. That was an 83.5-point ride by Lucas Mooningham, Nov. 8, 2018, at the RAM Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo in Davie, Fla. “He actually bucked me off in Denver (in January),” Frost said. “I knew the bull pretty good and he’s bucked all the top guys off. He’s notorious for being in the gate to the right and always switches directions, and that’s usually when he bucks everybody off. I was ready for the direction change and after he changed directions, he stayed right there close to the chute and kept bucking. The ride felt good all the way through.” Frost joined Dustin Boquet (Fort Worth, Texas), Campbell (San Antonio), Ty Wallace (Fort Mohave, Ariz.), Clayton Sellars (Spanish Fork, Utah) and Trevor Kastner (Dodge City, Kan.) as the other 2020 Division 1 Xtreme Bulls winners. It was Frost’s second Xtreme Bulls

Division 1 Xtreme Bulls victory. In addition to that San Antonio win, Campbell added a second-place finish at the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Xtreme Bulls, July 20 and earned $9,297. At the Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale in Nephi, Campbell was bucked off in the long round by Diamond G Rodeo’s Tawa II. “Winning San Antonio was a big one, and Spanish Fork also gave me a boost,” said Campbell, who had a career-best season in 2019 after finishing second in the world standings with $217,801. Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale counted toward the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. That boded well for Frost, who entered Nephi 27th in the world standings. As of Oct. 1, Frost had climbed to 18th with $46,572. Frost’s Nephi performance was extra special because his father, Shane, and mother, Lisa, were in attendance. Frost’s hometown of Randlett, Utah is three hours fromNephi. “My dad came back and pulled my rope on both my rides, which was cool,” Frost said. “He probably only gets to come to three or four of my rodeos when they’re in Utah because he’s busy working. He took me to all my rodeos my whole life growing up, and it’s pretty fun when he gets to come help me at the big ones.” Six-time reigning world champion Sage Kimzey failed to register a score in the long round. The three-time defending Xtreme Bulls Tour champion saw his streak come to an end. Kimzey entered Nephi 17th in the Xtreme Bulls standings with $12,280.

Division 1 win. His other came at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Xtreme Bulls in 2018. He set the tone for his latest victory with an 85.5-point ride on Flying U Rodeo’s Johnny Sack. “I had been on that bull three years ago in Hayward, Calif., and he bucked me off,” Frost said. “I had a really good ride. That bull did what he was supposed to and went the way I was planning on it. You can’t miss the Division 1 Xtreme Bulls events because they pay so much money, and it is great because they usually bring in four or five stock contractors and you know you’re going to get on a good bull and have a chance to win money.” Campbell finished atop the Xtreme Bulls Tour standings with $44,286. His biggest Xtreme Bulls win came on Feb. 22 when he won in San Antonio, earning $20,333 – $17,833 for his winning, 89-point ride on 4L &Diamond S Rodeo’s Ferdinand. That was his first
