BY JOLEE JORDAN Special to ProRodeo Sports News O n Dec. 11, 2019, steer wrestler Stetson Jorgensen stood on the stage at the South Point Hotel &Casino picking up the hardware that comes from winning a round at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo – another ProRodeo cowboy realizing a life-long dream. Like many of his fellow timed-event competitors, Jorgensen chalks up a fair share of his success to his horsepower, in his case a lightning-fast sorrel mare named Mabel.

purchased the mare as a 3-year-old in the Heritage Place Annual Mixed Winter Sale in January 2014, he was immediately offered $1,000 over the sale price. “I declined, saying I had plans for her,” Henry laughed. The potential buyer persisted, learning that Henry was hoping Mabel, who is registered through the American Quarter Horse Association as Patrionic Dash, would make a good steer wrestling horse.
