Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame adds members New inductees into the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame were celebrated at Central Washington University on Aug. 30. Inductees this year were the late Katherine “Kay” Forbes Hageman, the Frank Wallace Family, and the team-roping pair of Jake Barnes and Clay O’Brien Cooper. After the inductions, the “Shades of Fame” auction raised money for the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame Museum. Local businesses sponsored artists from around the region to create one-of-a- kind lamps for the auction. Bidders paid hundreds of dollars to take the pieces of art home, with at least one piece fetching more than $1,000. Walla Walla Frontier Days honors cowboys Cowboy legends Darrell Mayberry, Joe Bronkhurst and Tim Corfield were honored at Walla Walla (Wash.) Frontier Days, Sept. 1. Mayberry was born in Walla Walla and competed for many years as a member in the PRCA, ACTRA and Pioneer Posse, and in amateur rodeo. He competed in bareback, bull riding, bulldogging, tie- down roping and team roping. Bronkhurst was born in Spokane and moved to Walla Walla to attend community college. He went to the College National Finals Rodeo in tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping. After college, he continued as a PRCA member. Corfield grew up in Pendleton and went to college at Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande. He was an integral part in creating the Washington State High School Rodeo Association. He coached men’s and women’s rodeo teams at Walla Walla Community College. Final PRCA Rodeo Camp Sept. 30 The final PRCA Rodeo Camp of 2018 is scheduled to be in San Bernardino, Calif., Sept. 30. National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum unveils 2018 Hall class The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma, City, Okla., recently announced its 2018 Hall of Fame class. The list consists of ProRodeo Hall of Fame saddle bronc rider/bull rider Bobby Berger; Derek Clark, a 15-time Wrangler NFR qualifier in saddle bronc riding; three-time PRCA world champion steer wrestler Steve Duhon; PRCA steer wrestler/ hazer Bill Duvall; rodeo clown Jim Bob Feller; ProRodeo Hall of Fame steer wrestler John W. Jones Jr.; renowned rodeo photographer James Cathey, posthumously; NFR bareback riding qualifier Les Gore; Elaine Agather, Tad Lucas Memorial Award; Clyde Frost, Ben Johnson Memorial Award; and Dr. Don Mitchell, Directors’ Choice Award. The induction weekend takes place Nov. 9-10. Team roper Joe Beers continuing to improve PRCA team roping heeler Joe Beers, 29, was critically injured in an ATV accident in Prineville, Ore., Aug. 17.

Brandon Beers, Joe’s older brother and a four-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo team roping header, said Joe had a second surgery Aug. 20 and was up walking and left the hospital Sept. 5. Joe and Brandon are the sons of ProRodeo Hall of Famer Mike Beers. A fundraiser was set up by a family friend at http://bit.ly/JoeBeersFundraiser. The family also has set up a donation account through U.S. Bank. Donations can be made at any U.S. Bank location and deposited into the Joe Beers Medical Fund Account. Pendleton Round-Up golf tourney on tap The 29th Annual Pendleton (Ore.) Round-Up Foundation Memorial golf tournament is sched- uled for Sept. 10, and the organizing committee is offering participants a discounted entry fee to play. The event is a fundraiser for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. The golf tournament is happening at the Pendleton Country Club, 69772 Hwy. 395 South Pendleton, 97801.
