Kimzey wasted no time securing his title with a 91.5-point ride on Big Stone Rodeo Inc.’s War Cry in the third round of the PendletonWhisky Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale. He added $5,244 with the round win to put the finishing touches on yet another impressive Xtreme Bulls Tour season where he finished with $102,517. “These are some of our biggest events of the year, and most of the time if you do well in them, chances are you’re doing well in the world,” said Kimzey, 27. “Winning the Xtreme Bulls Tour title is always something that I put in the forefront of my goals when I sit down for the year. They pay a lot of money and they’re a ton of fun.” Kimzey’s last PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour title came in 2019. That year he went on to win his sixth world title. He says it’s not a coincidence between leading the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings and winning the tour title. “If you come in and win a Division 1 Xtreme Bulls you know you’re doing something right,” Kimzey said. “There’s still a lot of rodeo and there’s work left to be done, but the sights are set on Las Vegas.” Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, Kimzey is firmly in the No. 1 spot in the world standings, $62,191 ahead of No. 2 StetsonWright. From here on out, Kimzey is focused on staying consistent and getting through the remainder of the year healthy. “Right now, it’s kind of on cruise control, a lot of us are beat up, right now,” Kimzey said. “We are ready for a break. It’s been a long season. But right now, it’s who can block that out and go do their job day in and day out. We are out here grinding it out, stick it out and making a living.” Rookie cowboy Matt Palmer covered four bulls on his way to his first PendletonWhisky Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale title.
