Cowboy Way BY ALLY GALLAGHER Special to ProRodeo Sports News I t might be the bull rider mentality, or it might just be the cowboy way. That’s how Roscoe Jarboe is looking at his season, which has been quite the uphill LEWISTON ROUND-UP LEWISTON, IDAHO

battle. Not only is Jarboe fighting to ride bulls, but he’s also fighting to keep his body in one piece. “I have a bone, it’s either broken or misplaced in my wrist right now,” said Jarboe. “I have a torn ligament in my right elbow and my collarbone is separating frommy sternum. “My body’s falling apart, I guess.” With only a couple weeks left in the season, Jarboe was sitting on the bubble to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Jarboe is powering through the pain to keep his name in the Top 15 in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. After four NFR berths, and hungry for a fifth, splitting the win at the Lewiston (Idaho) Roundup is just what Jarboe needed. Jarboe took a re-ride and it paid off. He had an 88.5-point ride on Macza Pro Rodeo’s Lap Dance, adding more than $3,000 to his season total. Even before the ride, Jarboe knew it could be a lucky draw. “I had drawn (Lap Dance) in Bremerton (Wash.) but we couldn’t make it due to some traffic on the way,” Jarboe said. “I was kind of bummed out about that but happened to get on him there as a re-ride in Lewiston. Stetson (Wright) was 90 points on him the night before, so I was pretty excited.” That winning ride got the adrenaline pumping, but not enough to mask the pain of multiple nagging injuries, all on the side he holds on with. “These, they don’t feel too good, ever. When I get on, I can still feel everything,” Jarboe said. Still, Jarboe has a handful of bulls to conquer before heading home to New Plymouth, Idaho. The 25-year-old has high hopes that if his wrist, elbow and collarbone can hold on until the end of the PRCA regular season Sept. 30, he’ll punch his ticket to Las Vegas. Either way, October and November will be dedicated to resting and resetting. “If I can put my name in the hat to go to the Finals, I will,” Jarboe said. “Dang sure rest up and start working out, get healthy again with my two months off. Come back a lot stronger than I am right now.”
