Barrington, who’s first name is really Anthony, was eager to get going. Haworth told Denny that Tony was going to ride with them, but Denny – who knew Barrington as Anthony from high school rodeos – had no idea who Tony Barrington was. Eventually, Denny put two and two together, or more accurately, put Anthony and Tony together. “What messed me up is his name is Anthony,” Denny said. “Kenny kept saying Tony is going with us now. I was like, ‘Who is this Tony guy?’ Then he showed up and I realized who he was.” The traveling has crossed rodeo lines, moving into a friendship and occasionally an employer-employee relationship. When he’s not rodeoing, Barrington picks up jobs where he can find them, and that has included working for Denny, who owns a fencing company. “Tony’s done a lot of work for me,” Denny said. “Before the big California run it was just me and him for a while. I have a gym inmy garage. We were building fences all day and then working out. We had a pretty nice routine.” LEWISTON ROUNDUP

OFFAND RUNNING After receiving his associate degree in ag business from the College of Southern Idaho, where he competed on the rodeo team, Barrington purchased his card and hit the rodeo trail. His season’s efforts have him sixth in the Wilderness Circuit standings and likely headed to the RAMWilderness Circuit Finals Rodeo in Heber City, Utah, in November. “I’m looking forward to that, the Wilderness Finals are always a good time,” Barrington said. “That’s more or less the next goal, to do well at the circuit finals and see how that ends up. I’ll take the winter off. So you want to do well there and get some fire rolling into the next year.” At 25, Denny has surprisingly found himself as someone younger cowboys are looking up to already and asking for advice. Barrington is one of those guys. “Kenny Haworth and Grant Denny have really showed me a lot this year,” Barrington said. “… It’s great. I think that’s what has helped me so much this year riding, being able to go with those guys and the energy they have.” Denny said it’s paying off for his traveling partner, even if the rookie is taking some ribbing from his older friends. “I went through the same thing,” Denny said. “He’s the rookie in the rig, so we were always giving him crap. I went through it too, so it makes me feel old now. We would mess with him a lot, but it’s helped him out a lot. We’re taking a rookie, and he’s learning from us. It’s crazy, the difference from when he first jumped in with us compared to now.”
