InWalla Walla, Harris tied for second in the first round with a 9.1-second run and tied for fourth in the second round in 9.0 to win the average with 18.1 seconds on two head. “My horse and I roped great, and I had two great chances on the draws,” Harris said. “Against those tough ropers at Walla Walla, you have to have a tough calf and give yourself a chance to win.” Harris’ big weekend was forged on Iron – an 11-year-old, American Quarter Horse gelding owned by Walter Johnson. “He’s fast and good for long setups like Walla Walla,” Harris said. “I was pretty excited,” Harris said. “This is a pivotal time of the year, and I only have a few rodeos left, so to get this much money won took the pressure off for the rest of the year.” The 21-year-old’s hot streak started by winning consecutive rodeos, earning $4,027 at the IPE and Stampede in Armstrong, British Columbia, Aug. 31, and $6,161 inWalla Walla, Sept. 1. “It (Walla Walla) was a pretty big rodeo and one I’ve watched my whole life, so winning it was a pretty big deal,” Harris said. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.” He went on to pick up an additional $6,421 by placing third at the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo, Sept. 2, the final stop on the ProRodeo Tour. “Things just went good, and my horse worked really good, and I drew
