We started doing jackpots and stuff and I got to know him a little bit more, and we decided to roper together this season.” The biggest payday for the Barnson-Pulham combination this season came at the Mountain Valley Stampede in Heber City, Utah, Aug. 2-3, when they each took home $3,422. There, they tied for second with Tyler Wade and Billy Jack Saebens as each pair had 4.7-second runs. “That was great to get that kind of payday, especially since it also was a circuit rodeo for us,” said Barnson, who won La Fiesta de los Vaqueros in Tucson, Ariz., in 2018 with partner Cole Wilson in 21.4 seconds on three head. able to make rodeoing work in our schedule,” Pulham said. “My main priority is the family business. The paint company has been very good to our family, and it depends on what we do with it, like developing it to be even bigger.” Pulham started rodeoing when he was about 6 and worked his way through the junior rodeo and high school rodeo ranks, where he was a team roper and tie-down roper. He ditched tie-down roping and focused on team roping. Pulham also has family commitments. He and his wife, Shelby, have a daughter, Journee, 3. “I’m always pushing myself to get better,” Pulham said about his rodeo mindset. “I know I always have room to improve. It would be great if Zane and I could make the RAM Finals. That’s our plan and that’s what we have been working for. It has been fun roping with Zane. We just need to keep taking advantage of opportunities.” With a handful of Labor Day rodeos in the rear-view mirror, Barnson is keeping the remainder of the season in perspective. “The circuit season is slowing down quite a bit,” he said. “We have three or four good circuit rodeos left and then the season will be over, and we want to make sure we get to Kissimmee.”

That year, Pulham also won the average at the RAM Wilderness Circuit Finals Rodeo. “Heck yeah, we want to win the year-end championship, that would be awesome,” Barnson said. “That was our main goal for this year, and it is working out pretty good.” Barnson has been using two horses this season – Rudy, 13 and Brown, 7. “Rudy is my main horse, and he has been working well,” Barnson said. “This year we have just been circuit rodeoing because of my work schedule. We have not ventured out too much.” Barnson’s family owns the concrete company Triple B Concrete in St. George, Utah. The company specializes in residential curb, gutter and

I’m pretty lucky because I can take off if I need to (for rodeoing). Like Barnson, Pulham also keeps busy by working at his family’s fourth-generation company – Pulham Enterprises in Nephi, Utah. “We both have family businesses we are part of, and we are
