the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo topped bull rider Denton Fugate’s biggest career win five times over. The Missouri cowboy is hoping the early-season boost will help him qualify for his first Wrangler NFR. “It’s definitely the best start I’ve ever had, so I’m super excited,” Fugate said. Since his rookie season in 2015, he’s finished as high as 34th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings, doing so last season with $41,208. Five months later, the 25-year-old cowboy is ninth in the 2020 world standings with $32,127 after winning San Antonio. “I’ve been here twice before and didn’t do well, but it’s one of my favorite rodeos because the bulls are awesome,” Fugate said. Fugate won the first round of Bracket 1 with an

89-point ride on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Shootin’ Stars and placed third in the second round of the semifinals in Bracket 2. Luck was not on Fugate’s side for the final round’s draw, or so he thought, as he was the ninth bull rider drawn to select his bull.
