Wrangler NFR, second only to reigning six-time world champion Sage Kimzey’s $235,359 in earnings in Las Vegas. Campbell moved up to sixth in the Feb. 24 PRCA | RAMWorld Standings with $33,932. “I needed this win because I have been struggling,” Campbell said. “Right after the (2019 Wrangler NFR) I kind of slacked off and wasn’t taking care of business of going to the gym. It took me a week or two of bucking off and I got my butt back in that gym and started busting my butt and getting on bulls again, and it showed today. Bull riding is a humbling sport, and when you think you’re good enough not to do anything, that’s when you get your bottom busted.”

Wrangler National Finals Rodeo the last three seasons won his first Division 1 Xtreme Bulls title. Campbell won the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Xtreme Bulls Division 1 event with an 89-point ride on 4L &Diamond S Rodeo’s Ferdinand in the finals at the AT&T Center. “When I was a little kid, I saw this buckle with the X on it, and I was like, ‘Dang, I want one of those X buckles,” said Campbell, 21. “I always called them X buckles. In my three years of ProRodeo, I have won my fair share of Division 2 Xtreme Bulls events, but this is the first Division 1 buckle I have gotten and I’m really happy.” Campbell earned $17,833 for his ride in the finals and left town with $20,333 – $2,500 from placing second in the long round with his 82-point ride on Andrews Rodeo’s Rodeo Time.

“I got a monkey off my back,” Campbell said. “I flew in this morning (Feb. 22) – I came from Orlando – and I was tired and didn’t think it was going to be good. But when I got here, I packed my stuff and it was just one of those days when I put my bull rope on and said to myself, ‘I’m not going to fall off today,’ and I didn’t.” Making the whistle on Rodeo Time was a measure of revenge for Campbell. “In 2018, he bucked me off at my hometown rodeo in Crockett,” Campbell said. “I almost rode him then, but he’s a lot bigger now. He didn’t feel good today, but he rode good.” In the eight-man finals, Campbell saw his name next to Ferdinand for the first time. “I’ve seen him before and he was just as good as I thought,” Campbell said. Campbell edged Levi Gray, who finished second in the final round with an 87.5-point ride on 4L &Diamond S Rodeo’s House of Pain. Campbell became the second winner on the 2020 Division 1 X Bulls Tour, joining Dustin Boquet, who won the SWELS – Xtreme Bulls in Fort Worth, Texas, Jan. 22. “I’m going to wherever I can to make money,” Campbell said. “I’m there to ride a bull. I don’t care if there’s $1 million added or I’m at my house, I’m
