Days of ’76 Rodeo. His fans helped his cause, as Kammerer won the rodeo with a 91-point ride and walked away with $4,551. “Most of my family could come up,” said Kammerer, who made his ride July 29. “My mom, my dad, some other good family friends. “It was a good time. The win on South Point, a staple at the National Finals Rodeo, was special for Kammerer, who grew up in nearby Philip, S.D., just more than 100 miles down the road. As a rodeo he knew well growing up, he said taking home the title in Deadwood was special. “It’s pretty cool,” Kammerer said. “I’ve always wanted to be there and win money there. But this is actually the first time I’ve ever even placed there.” Not only did Kammerer’s ride move him to 24th in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings, within striking distance of an NFR qualification, but it was also the best ride of his career. “I just drew a pretty nice horse, it made me look good,” Kammerer said. “It was definitely my all-time best.” Before Deadwood, Kammerer had a career-best ride of 88.5 points on Burch Rodeo’s

Now in his third year in the PRCA, Kammerer is an up-and- coming cowboy who has already doubled his 2020 earnings with more than $30,000 won. Knowing that, he is eyeing his first NFR bid. With his sights set on coming out of the yellow bucking chutes in Las Vegas in December, Kammerer knows he needs to keep his focus every time he nods his head. Kammerer said the luck of the draw will be important if he wants to continue to rise in the standings. “(I’m going to) keep going, hit all the big ones I can,” he said. “I’ve got to draw good and take advantage of it.”
