XTREME BRONCS & BULLS
WHAT IS XTREME BRONCS?
The PRCA Xtreme Broncs Tour is a series of events that features only saddle bronc riding competition. These stand-alone events were first approved by the PRCA in 2016. In 2022, there were events across the country
that concluded with a finale in Rapid City, S.D. The format: the Top 12 saddle bronc riders in the PRCA | RAM World Standings and the Top 12 contestants in the Xtreme Broncs standings competed in a long go and a short go for the Xtreme Broncs title and a portion of the nearly $100,000 purse. All money earned on the tour and in the tour finale counted toward qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. 2022 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS • Brody Cress returned to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo for the sixth time in 2022. The Hillsdale, Wyo., cowboy received a boost to accomplish that goal by winning the PRCA’s Xtreme Broncs Tour. • Cress won the Xtreme Broncs Finals in Rapid City, S.D., thanks to his 93.5 point ride on Sutton Rodeo’s South Point in the finals. Cress left town after earning $23,059. • In 2021, Xtreme Broncs Tour champion Dawson Hay secured not only the finale win but the tour title with a 92-point ride on Sutton Rodeo’s South Point in the short round. • Cress won the Xtreme Broncs Tour with $89,189. XTREME BRONCS & BULLS
WHAT IS XTREME BULLS?
The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour showcases the PRCA’s top bull riders and some of the rankest bulls the world has to offer. Xtreme Bulls competitors include the top bull riders from the PRCA | RAM World Standings as well as contestants who advance through Xtreme Bulls qualifying events. In most Xtreme Bulls events, every contestant competes in the first round, with the top performers advancing to the final round. The winner of the two-head average after the final
round earns the title for that tour stop. Money won on the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour counts toward the PRCA | RAM World Standings for bull riding, which determine the qualifiers for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo but does not count toward the all-around standings. 2022 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS • Stetson Wright won his first Xtreme Bulls Tour title in his decorated career, finishing the season with $73,945. • Wright stacked up wins and broke records it seems like nearly every week and a two day stop at the Pendleton Whisky Xtreme Bulls Finale in September proved to be no different. • The five-time PRCA World Championship showed off his pedigree by winning not only the Finale championship, but the year-end PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour title as well. He finished the four rounds of competition with 257 points on three head, making him the only cowboy to ride three bulls at the event. • The Milford, Utah, cowboy, earned an event best $20,648 for his performance. That number proved to be enough to move him into the top spot in the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour Standings at the conclusion of the event, edging out fellow NFR qualifier Josh Frost by $10,636. He secured the title in the third round with an 86-point ride on Muddy Creek Pro Rodeo’s Spyglass. Xtreme Bulls Finale, Pendleton, Ore., Sept. 12-13 First round: 1.
