CODY WEBSTER RETURNS FROM INJURY, NAMED BULLFIGHTER OF THE YEAR

C ody Webster was all smiles when he arrived at the South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas for the Back Number Ceremony to kick off the 2025 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. After shoulder surgery in August and months of rehab, he was finally cleared to return to the arena as one of the top bullfighters in the PRCA. He was honored as such Dec. 3 at the South Point, when Webster was named the winner of the 2025 PRCA Bullfighter of the Year Award for the sixth year in a row. “It’s hard to put into words. It’s been a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and damn sure a lot of pain,” Webster said. “It’s pretty sweet now. I don’t recommend it and I don’t want to go through it again. But if I have to, the good Lord has a plan and I’ll stick with it.” Webster’s injury occurred during the Music City Ro deo in Nashville, Tenn., May 30-June 1. He began rehab

in June and was back out on the road, battling multiple shoulder dislocations. Finally, he opted for reconstructive surgery after Chey enne (Wyo.) Frontier Days. “Sitting out in the arena after the dislocation, I knew at some point I was going to have to go get it fixed,” Webster said. “I got to a point where I felt like I left it all on the dirt and knew I was good to go get surgery. The Top 15 bull riders that are here this week, the good Lord, my wife, my family, my friends, my partners ... everybody. This is for them.” Webster was cleared and named to his 13th straight NFR, joined 10-time PRCA Bullfighter of the Year Dusty Tuckness, who was in his 17th NFR, and Austin Ashley, who made his NFR debut. The trio were paired with barrelman Dusty Myers, who made his first appearance in the barrel at the NFR and was a finalist for the Barrelman of the Year Award.
