I had a lot of luck across the street there at Globe Life (at the 2020 NFR), and to come here and do this is pretty awesome.” Hanchey was riding TJ at AT&T Stadium, the same horse he was aboard while earning an event-best $143,692 at the 2020 NFR. The horse is owned by Canadian tie-down roper Logan Bird. “I’ve won four Canadian titles on him and a lot of rodeos on him,” Hanchey said. “That horse is a winner and one of the best I’ve ever ridden. This venue (AT&T Stadium) – you know I’m a sports fan – is so cool, and I’m really happy to get a victory here.”

The Sulphur, La., native won the 2013 PRCA world championship and won the average at the National Finals Rodeo in 2013 and 2020. Now, he’s a champion at RFD-TV’s The American. Hanchey clocked a 7.74-second run in the four-man Shoot-Out to grab the $100,000 victory. “I’d never even made it out of the 16-man round here and I’ve been here every year, so this is pretty cool,” Hanchey said. Hanchey earned $102,250 – $52,250 that counted toward the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings and put him in first with $65,136. “This means a lot, especially when $50,000 of it goes to the standings,
