The Livingston (Mont.) Roundup Rodeo has a

rich history dating to 1924.

In 1925, the roundup ranked among the top rodeos in the nation and at the time had a purse of more than $3,000. Fast-forward to today, and the Livingston Roundup is still going strong. The 95th edition of the rodeo will be July 2-4 as part of the ProRodeo Tour. In 2019, the Livingston Roundup Association put more than $104,000 added money into the rodeo. Livingston has a population of about 7,500 and is 50 miles north of Yellowstone Park. “We are going to sit about 15,000 people for the rodeo, and we sell out every night,” said Bruce Becker, in his 26th year as president of the Livingston Roundup Association. “As soon as the last bull bucks after each performance, we turn off the lights and have a pretty spectacular fireworks show. We have a military night and an emergency services night and Tough Enough toWear Pink Night, and the Chamber of Commerce will put on a parade July 2.” The rodeo, which is in the middle of the PRCA’s lucrative Cowboy Christmas run, will have a video scoreboard on display. The LRA also partnered with Park County to put in new arena fencing. “Many years ago, Red Lodge (Mont.), Cody (Wyo.) and Livingston all

got together, and since we are all about a two-and-a-half to three-hour drive from each other, we decided to hold our rodeos at the same time so cowboys could hit three pretty big rodeos in a short period of time,” Becker said. “We are proud of what we do. I have 15 people who are on my board of directors, and then I have another 50 people who show up and volunteer at the rodeo.” Steve Kenyon, of ProRodeo Live, has been the announcer at the rodeo for many years and will be in that role again. Kessler Championship Rodeo will be the stock contractor. “This is the biggest event in Park County, Mont.,” Becker said. “We had a lady from the Netherlands stop by and buy tickets for our rodeo, and she’s coming back in July. We have a lot of people from Europe who like our rodeo.” The record book of the Livingston Roundup is littered with PRCA National Finals Rodeo stars, including 24-time PRCA world champion Trevor Brazile, who won a rodeo-record $5,959 in all-around money in 2013.
