ELKO, NEV.

Alexis Cady photos Brady Minor, left, and his brother Riley, right, clocked a 4.6-second run at the Silver State Stampede to walk away with the rodeo win.

“We’ve roped together for so long now that it’s just normal these days. We grew up together, practiced it and it’s just good. We have our ups and downs, but it’s easy because you can tell your brother what you’re thinking versus if you’re working with someone you don’t really know that well,” Riley added. Despite facing challenges this season, the Minors have managed to secure significant victories, including a 5.1-second win at the Sedro-Woolley (Wash.) PRCA Rodeo, a 4.8-second run at the Crooked River Roundup and a 5.3-second effort at the PRCA Last Stand Rodeo. These successes have placed them 22nd in the PRCA | RAM World Standings, with Riley as a header and Brady as a heeler. Winning Elko has motivated the Minor brothers for what’s ahead throughout the remainder of their summer run. “We’ve roped together for so long now, and nothing’s changed. The competition out here these days is really tough – we need to win every time we nod our head, and Elko was a good pick-me-up,” Brady Minor

shared. Brady is particularly focused on securing a spot in the Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup, Wash. “Last year was the first year in 20 years I haven’t qualified for Puyallup. It was a bummer, and I want to get some more tour points on the board and we’re trying to, in the next couple months, get qualified for Puyallup,” he explained. With multiple qualifications for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) under their belts – Riley with 11 and Brady with 13 – their ultimate goal remains another NFR qualification. However, the competition is fiercer and faster than ever, and the stakes are high. “It’s all we’ve ever done. The NFR pays good these days, and I feel like I’m getting older and only got a few years left, and we’re just kind of rolling out these last few years here. “It’s been a rough year, and we’re playing catch-up, but we’ll probably go till the bitter end,” Brady Minor concluded.
