LAYTON GREEN CHOOSES

WISELY ON HIS WAY TO CANBY SADDLE BRONC TITLE

By Alex Riley, Special to PRORODEO Sports News

L ayton Green had a decision to make on where to be Aug. 16. The Millarville, Alberta, saddle bronc rider was pondering two

options - head to the short round at the Caldwell (Idaho) Night Rodeo or make his way to the Canby (Ore.) Rodeo for a one-header. When he saw his draw in Canby, the choice was an easy one. His intuitions turned out to be spot on. Green's matchup with Calgary Stampede bucking horse Dandy Delight was the showdown of the rodeo. His 90-point ride in the final go was a half-point better than Wyatt Casper, helping lift Green to a much-needed victory.

"I had actually been on that horse three times before I had him last night," Green said with a laugh. "I actually made the short round in Caldwell last night as well, but having that horse and knowing what he can be, I just de cided I would rather go to Canby and get on that one. I figured it was a pretty good chance to win first."
