XTREME BULLS CLOVIS, CALIF.

Bully!

Jarboe captures Clovis X-Bulls title BY TANNER BARTH T he PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour made a stop at the iconic Clovis (Calif.) Rodeo on April 24. The fans in attendance got their money’s worth and then some. The stacked field consisted of 27 bull riders inside the top 50 of the PRCA | RAM World Standings. When the dust settled in California it was five-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier Roscoe Jarboe sitting on top with the Division 1 Xtreme Bulls event win. Jarboe captured the average title with 171.5 points on two head. He punched his ticket to the short round with an 82-point ride on Legacy Pro Rodeo’s Angels Landing. The New Plymouth, Idaho, cowboy then cemented the win in the finals with an 89.5-point trip on Corey & Lange Rodeo’s Pretty Boy. It was a rematch from the bull’s first out in Sisters, Ore., a year ago. “I’ve been on that bull before, I actually cracked him out for Mike (Corey) in Sisters last year and was 83.5 points on him there,” said Jarboe, 28. “He’s not much different than he was then but he definitely bucks a little harder now. He’s a whirler, he goes 100 mph around to the right. We scored a little higher and won more money this time around.” In total, Jarboe earned $11,784 for his two rides, which not only bumps him up to the top spot in the Xtreme Bulls Tour but moves him inside the top 5 in the world standings as of April 25 with more than $61,000. He believes the difference so far this season in his success has been avoiding the dreaded injury bug that’s bit him in years past. “I think I’m finally getting back to being a little healthier this year,” he said. “I’ve had injuries that have bothered me the last two years. In my opinion, I think I should’ve made the Finals every year I’ve been going but that’s just part of it. This year we are feeling pretty good. I just need to keep myself on two feet more or less.” Jarboe’s last trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo came back in 2021, when he finished 15th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $105,778. He has a roadmap laid out in front of him for what it will take to return to Las Vegas this December. “For me, I think I need to stay healthy, I believe that’s the biggest part of it all,” Jarboe said. “There’s no doubt in my mind that I should be at the Finals. When I don’t make it it’s usually because of costly mistakes or bad get offs on my part. I need to stay healthy, stay consistent, and stay on my bulls.”
