win the average at 11.9 seconds, 0.1 seconds quicker than Edward Hawley Jr. and Myles John. It was the first time in Tryan’s decorated career to win Prescott, but it was the second victory at the World’s Oldest Rodeo for Long, who won it in 2018 with Luke Brown. “It’s cool to win this again because this is obviously a prestigious rodeo with the history of it,” Long said. “Most of the steers were pretty good in the first round, and our steer was just a little bit soggy so we weren’t able to make as good a run as we could’ve. Our second steer ran well, and I thought we made a really good, snappy run out in the middle of the arena. (Clay) did a really good job on him. I was a little bit late, he drilled the barrier and reached on the way to him and really set the run up. I didn’t think it would hold, but we got the win.” Tryan and Long each earned $3,809 for their winning performance. “The committee did an awesome job by just having it (the rodeo),” Tryan said. “All these rodeos over the Fourth of July did a great job of stepping up, and I hope they keep it up because it helps us a lot.” Long has enjoyed roping with Tryan. “We get along good, travel seems easy and our lifestyles match up pretty good, he has three kids and I have two kids,” Long said.
