Roscoe Jarboe captures Xtreme Bulls win in Alaska Last Frontier BY TRACY RENCK B ull rider Roscoe Jarboe understands the grind it takes to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The New Plymouth, Idaho, cowboy made it to the NFR four times, qualifying in 2016-18 and 2020. 88.5. Jarboe earned $5,330 for his performance and a commemorative firearm. He missed out on receiving five ounces of gold at the event, which was 40 miles northeast of Anchorage. “I had to ride the bounty bull (after the performance) to

get the gold, and I got bucked off in about three seconds, but it didn’t take away from the excitement of winning and coming to Alaska for the first time,” said Jarboe, 28. “…This trip is something that will carry on with me for a long time. The scenery here is awesome.” Jarboe believes the bull riding event in Palmer has a bright future. “For starters, I wanted to go to (Alaska) just because I had never been here,” Jarboe said. “The plan was to come up here early and go fishing, but we weren’t able to make that happen. Then, they were giving away the gold to ride the bounty bull and a gun, stuff you can hold on to. I also got a buckle and a gold dustpan. “I have no regrets about going at all. I imagine we will come back up here next year. There isn’t a whole lot going on at this time of year in the lower 48, and I think this event is going to get a lot of guys to come back.” Jarboe moved up two spots to sixth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $43,629. “This check from Palmer was well-needed,” he said. “I’ve been climbing up the standings a little bit here and there, and hopefully this will help me continue that.
