Hesston and Massey Ferguson, through its Sowing Good Deeds initiative, want to raise awareness of these local efforts and reward one PRCA committee each year whose impact goes above and beyond. Mid-Plains Community College hires new coach Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, Neb., has a new rodeo team coach. Wyatt Clark, of McCook, has been Garone moved back to Greenfield and started rodeoing. Garone traveled all over the central and western states steer wrestling. He was exceptionally proud when pictures of him steer wrestling were on the cover of the Bakersfield newspaper, the Daily Oklahoman and ProRodeo Sports News . Ranching and farming were a big part of Garone’s life. He raised cotton, wheat, corn silage, hay and watermelon. His ranch was in the Tehachapi Mountains. Garone mentored high school boys in steer wrestling and hauled his bulldogging horses to high school rodeos for them. In 1995, Garone moved his family and ranching operations to Milburn. He loved being involved in his sons’ school sports, 4-H and FFA. Garone was preceded in death by his son

Clark takes over the role of former MPCC coach Garrett Nokes who passed away in February. “I’m excited for the opportunity,” Clark said in a May 28 article on thefencepost.com. “It’s a big gap to fill, but I’m going to do my best for the college, the kids and the community to keep the winning traditions going forward.” Cheyenne Fitness Rodeo on tap June 19 The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum is pleased to announce the second annual Cheyenne Fitness Rodeo on Saturday, June 19 at 7 a.m. (MDT). The community event is hosted by several small local gyms and will be at the Lion’s Park Amphitheater. All proceeds from the Fitness Rodeo will benefit the CFD Old West Museum. In addition to supporting a local nonprofit, attendees will get to experience several gyms and types of workouts. The participating local gyms are: H.I.I.T 30, Mary’s Fitness, Little Lotus, Evolve Fitness and Crossfit Frontier. CRAIG WYATT GARONE

Craig Wyatt Garone, a PRCA Gold Card member, passed away Sept. 8, 2020. He was 75. Garone was born June 21, 1945, in Bakersfield, Calif. He was a resident of Bakersfield for 50 years and Milburn, Okla., for 25 years. Craig, his sisters Carol and Lynette, and brother, Tim, grew up on the family farm in Greenfield, Calif. Garone attended Pasadena Nazarene College for two years before transferring to Cal Poly University at San Luis Obispo. He was on the rodeo team at Cal Poly. Garone had a brief career in the movie business thanks to his cousinWalter Wyatt. St. Paul Rodeo Foundation awards scholarships Alexandra Hernandez and Olivia Veeman each received $4,000 scholarships from the St. Paul (Ore.) Rodeo Foundation June 7. Hernandez, a 2021 graduate of St. Paul High School, played volleyball and basketball and ran track in high school. She was part of her school’s FFA chapter, National Honor Society, DECA, Key Club, Health Occupation Club and was editor-in-chief for her school’s yearbook. Veeman, a 2021 graduate of Veritas given to a St. Paul High School student, volunteered at the rodeo as part of the school’s booster club, parking cars and helping with setup. Both women plan on going into the field of dentistry. This year’s St. Paul Rodeo is June 30 through July 4, with performances daily at 7:30 p.m. (PDT) and a matinee on July 4 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale online at StPaulRodeo.com.
