XTREME BRONCS FALLON, NEV.

Timberman walks away with Battle Born Broncs title Rookie Roars

BY KENSIE DARST-TODD Special to ProRodeo Sports News A fter winning the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., Weston Timberman, 19-year old cowboy from Columbus, Mont., was equipped with the confidence to compete at the 3rd Annual Battle Born Broncs in Fallon, Nev. Timberman, a Resistol Rookie, matched up with Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Mustard and the challenge was immediately accepted. “That’s a world class bucking horse. That’s the one that everyone wants to get on. You have a chance to be a lot of points on her if you just do your job,” Timberman said. “I was super excited to see my name next to her and I knew that if I did my job, I could really capitalize on that opportunity.” Timberman capped the night with an 88-point ride, making him the third consecutive Resistol Rookie winner at the Battle Born Broncs event, following Bradlee Miller (2023) and Rocker Steiner (2022). This event set the anticipation for Timberman’s summer run. “This is the best way to start the summer,” Timberman said. “The way we’re sitting right now, Fallon is kicking us off right into the summer – the money is good but also the confidence being able to win Fallon on a world-class bucking horsing riding like this going into the summer is awesome.” Timberman earned $7,840 for his Fallon victory. As of June 20, he was 15th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $44,251. He also leads the Resistol Rookie standings. The preparation leading up to the ride and his interest in rodeo was fostered at an early age, watching his father Chris Timberman, and uncle Kelly Timberman, ride bareback. Kelly was the 2004 PRCA Bareback Riding World Champion. Chris was the Mountain States Circuit year-end bareback riding champion in 2005. “I remember being a kid watching them go out and rodeo and come back with the awesome stories and the cool bucket of more stories. It was something installed into me – I knew I was going to be a bareback rider since I was a kid,” Weston said. Devoted to tradition, Timberman keeps a focus on what will help him rise in ranks. “The biggest thing for me is my mindset. I don’t let myself get down when I’m not riding the best or maybe I’m not drawing the best,” Timberman said. “I’m always pushing myself to look at the positives and focus on how to get better and improve and not stay stagnant – that’s how you find yourself in the top 15.” The desire to ride and compete well is going noticed after Timberman’s recent wins. He walked away from the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., June 15, with his second consecutive national title. This win set the bar high for Timberman and it has remained high as he competed at Battle Born Broncs. “It’s that feeling that you want to do good, to go out there and do what you know how to do,” Timberman said. “Once she finally got in the chute, it was game on.”
