Askey wins $12,628 at Reno Two 87.5-point
rides added up to winning the Reno (Nev.) Rodeo bull riding for Jeff Askey. The 30-year-old cowboy tied for first in the first round on Rosser Rodeo’s Hash Tag and returned to make the same score in the final round. Askey’s former traveling partner, Caleb Sanderson, had ridden the same bull Askey drew, so Askey knew what he was in for. “He said, ‘If I can ride him, you could,’” Askey said. “He was a little better than I remembered.” at Reno pushed Askey from 16th to ninth in the 2018 PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. “It’s great, you start thinking of ways to invest or make it useful,” Askey said, adding that he might use his Reno winnings to pay off some cattle. “I am shocked to get Reno knocked off my bucket list,” O’Connell said. “I never made the short list here before, and what a way to start your summer.” Two 82-point rides in the first two rounds, followed by an 87-point ride on Flying U Rodeo’s Lil Red Hawk in the final round, added up to 251 points on three head for O’Connell. “I choked on my sandwich when I saw I had Lil Red Hawk,” O’Connell said. “We have won rounds in the NFR on her. She is truly something special, and she has a heart the size of this arena. If you don’t give it everything you got,
