Region champion steer wrestler all four years and the national champ in 1970. He also won the Great Plains Region ribbon roping in 1970 and calf roping in 1971. He graduated from the National College of Business in Rapid City, S.D., with a degree in business. Christophersen was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, March 21, 1950, to John and Edith (Kunkel) Christophersen. Christophersen married Vicki Selman on Feb. 3, 1973, in Glendive, Mont. He rodeoed for a living and worked for B&HWelding Company and started Big Sky Trailer and Hitch. Their sons are ChadWayne and Rusty Ryan. Bob and Vicki later divorced. On June 15, 1989, Christophersen married Eunice Newcomb. They, and Chad and Rusty, moved to the ranch west of Grassy Butte, N.D., neighboring her parents. They operated both places with the help of Rusty, until Christopherson’s death. Christophersen was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Billy. Christophersen is survived by his wife, Eunice; sons, Chad and his wife, Marriah, Rusty and his wife, Hailey; grandchildren, Paige, Chase and Ryder; sisters, Cathy (Rick) Kingston, their children, Cody and Stephanie, Jane (James) Flynn, their children, Garrett and Jaycie. A Liturgy of the Word Service for Christophersen took place June 28 at the High Plains Cultural Center in Killdeer, N.D. Burial will take place at a later date.

NFR average in 1971 and 1975. He was 75.2 seconds on 10 head to win the average in ’71 and 69.0 seconds on 10 head to take the average title in ’75. He finished a career-best sixth in the world standings in 1971 and 1972. Christophersen won the Montana Circuit steer wrestling year-end title in 1977. He was inducted into the Iowa High School Cowboy Hall of Fame, the National College Athletic Hall of Fame, the Montana PRCAHall andWall of Fame, and the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. While at Bishop Heelan High School, he was the Iowa high school steer wrestling state champion in 1966 and 1969, the national high school champion in 1966, 1968 and 1969, and runner-up in 1967. Christophersen also placed in tie-down roping and bull riding in the Iowa high school state rodeo and was the all-around champion in 1966 and 1969. In college, Christophersen was the Great Plains
