Mexican bull rider Edgar Durazo uses PRCA card to find success in Canada

BY KYNNLEY HERRINGTON Special to ProRodeo Sports News N o one can question the try or perseverance of PRCA bull rider Edgar Durazo. Carrying the banner of his home country of Mexico has been a challenge at times, but he realizes what he has signed up for and he continues to follow his dream. “I know I am 32, but I have just started this thing. It’s been a long, hard road but I am not going to quit until I stop feeling the fire,” said Durazo, who calls Moctezuma, Sonora, Mexico, home.

Durazo was raised on his family’s ranch in Moctezuma, two hours south of Douglas, Ariz., where he learned the cowboy way of life. “I am proud to be a Mexican and it (professional bull riding) takes a lot. It has not been easy, but it is possible,” Durazo said. Durazo was able to pinpoint when he was bitten by the rodeo bug. “The NFR was on ESPN, and they put it on in Spanish for us,” Durazo said. “I was 5 years old, and I remember telling my dad that I wanted to be a professional athlete and compete at the NFR.”
