Kissack takes tie-down roping crown Dream On BY TRACY RENCK A dream became a reality for tie-down roper Dane Kissack, April 21. RED BLUFF ROUND-UP RED BLUFF, CALIF.

ALL-AROUND COWBOY Rhen Richard, TOP SCORES

The Spearfish, S.D., cowboy won the coveted Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up with a time of 37.5 seconds on four head. “I’m just so thankful for how blessed I am and how big it was for me personally to win Red Bluff,” Kissack said. “It was humbling to do it. I think the sweetest victory of the whole thing was I won it on Easter Sunday and was able to give all the glory back to God.” Kissack, 29, earned $6,887 for his huge win. He was 30th in the April 29 PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. “I was very blessed to draw four calves that were all decent,” Kissack said. “The first two were just a little bit stronger, and I didn’t beat myself on those, and I went and tied them down. The last two calves they ran in were really good. I saw the start, and I tied them down. The biggest thing was I just didn’t beat myself. I have done that before in my career. When we get to these four-head rodeos, a guy just has to stay in the zone and do his job.” Rango, 11, provided the horsepower for Kissack. “He was really good, and Red Bluff is one of those big rodeos that you always dream of winning,” Kissack said. “To draw good at the end and finish it out was a dream come true. This was my biggest (career) win because of the prestige of the rodeo. Red Bluff is one of those rodeos where the whole town gets behind it and they sell the rodeo out. It is a great atmosphere.” Kissack won the third round with an 8.3-second time and followed that with an 8.8-second victorious run in the finals. “I had been to the short round at Red Bluff before a couple of years ago, and I had a good opportunity and I missed,” Kissack said. “It was very, very painful. To come back and have another real good opportunity there was amazing.” IN BRIEF BENTON NOTCHES RED BLUFF HAT TRICK

Bull rider Trey Benton III has de- veloped a liking for the Red Bluff Round-Up. The Texas cowboy won the rodeo for the third time in his career with an 88-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeos’ Vegas Outlaw. Benton also won in Red Bluff in 2012 and 2017. “I had never seen that bull before, but it was an awesome ride, he was very good,” Benton said. “It sure

is cool to win Red Bluff three times. My goal now is to win (California Rodeo) Salinas three times. I’ve won it twice, and it would be nice to have six wins at Red Bluff and Salinas.”
