Sundell was aboard The Cervi Brothers’ Living The High Life when the horse reared up in the chute and smashed Sundell in the chest. The impact lacerated Sundell’s liver, according to Rick Foster of the Justin Sportsmedicine team. Sundell was taken to the hospital and had surgery that evening. On Sept. 23, a spokesman for the Justin Sportsmedicine team told ProRodeo Sports News that Sundell had stayed at the Cow Camp in Rancho Mission Viejo. Sundell was walking and trying to regain weight after his lengthy stay in the hospital. Sundell finished the PRCA regular season 17th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $83,329.

Cowboy Journal, ‘NFR Extra’ earn PRCA nods The Cowboy Journal , which was launched in 2017 at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo by founders Shane Hanchey, Logan Ward, Matt Cohen and Megan Scales, has been selected for the 2019 PRCA Journalism Award presented by Boot Barn. The website spent its first year bringing first-person stories directly from contestants – cowboys and cowgirls, bullfighters, stock contractors and others inside the arena. Las Vegas Events launched “NFR Extra,” March 20. The bi-monthly podcast focuses on the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and features personal conversations with icons that embody rodeo and Western lifestyle. “NFR Extra” has been chosen for the 2019 PRCA Multimedia Broadcast Award presented by Boot Barn. The podcast is hosted by Bo Gardner and Nevada Colwell. The PRCA media award winners will be honored at the PRCA Awards Banquet at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, Dec. 4.

PRCA begins partnership with Bloomer Trailer

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association announced Sept. 24 its national partnership with Bloomer Trailer. The official partnership raises Bloomer Trailer’s efforts to be the trailer of choice for the champions and fans of rodeo. By becoming the Official Trailer of the PRCA, Bloomer Trailer continues to demonstrate it is the world’s leading manufacturer of custom and state-of-the-art horse trailers. All PRCA members will have access to an exclusive rebate program with their local dealer. “Partnering with the PRCA gives us the exciting opportunity to bring the Bloomer standard to as many of the world’s best cowboys
