2020 Wrangler NFR kicks off with Welcome Reception Countdown

in Arlington, Texas, this year so the event could have a live audience. The selection of back numbers
signifies the contestants’ qualification to the NFR. It is a rite of passage and a confirmation of their success over the past year. All the training, discipline and preparation have brought these athletes to this event. The Welcome Reception will start at 6 p.m., Dec. 1 and will be open to PRCA 2020 Convention attendees. Fans not attending the convention can purchase tickets to the reception for $30 beginning Nov. 1.
This evening event will effectively start the 2020 Wrangler NFR and will set the pace for 10 days of rodeo that will match the year’s greatest competitors in each of the sanctioned events. The event is one of the most anticipated moments at the NFR before the chutes open.

Success in timed events is a 50/50 effort between the cowboys and their horses, and the Purina Horse of the Year presented by AQHA awards provide recognition to ProRodeo’s top horses. The 2020 Purina Horse of the Year presented by AQHA awards were unveiled Oct. 12. The top three horses in each category are listed below: TEAM ROPING HEADING 1. The Clem McSpadden National Finals Steer Roping is returning to the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane. The NFSR, which has been at the Kansas Star Arena since 2014, returns Nov. 6-7. The Top 15 steer ropers compete in a 10-round event to determine the world champion. Last season, Trevor Brazile notched his PRCA-record 25th world championship when he claimed the NFSR gold buckle after winning the average in Mulvane. “The National Finals Steer Roping has certainly found a home in Mulvane,” PRCA CEO George Taylor said. “Our steer ropers love competing for a gold buckle in the friendly confines of the Kansas Star Arena.” The contract personnel selected for the NFSR are: Announcers: Curt Robinson, Jody Carper Secretary: Brenda Crowder Timers: Shelly Bauman, Mary Brunner Arena Usher: Josh Edwards (Charles Braden – alternate) Music Director: Derek Barton Clem McSpadden NFSR remaining at Kansas Star Arena
