Peggy Gander photo Cooper and Tucker White won the average at the RAM Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in Minot, N.D., Oct. 9-11.

Cooper’s borrowed mount, Razor, 9, was named the Badlands Circuit’s team roping heading horse of the year. “My head horse is owned by Andy Miller (fromWellfleet, Neb.), a great friend of mine who has let me ride him for the last year-and-a-half,” Cooper said. The Whites won the first round with a 5.7-second run and placed second in the final two rounds with 5.1- and 5.6-second runs. “This year we were fortunate enough to go last in every round,” said Tucker, 27. “He (Cooper) had a great head horse, and that’s a key component and we both know it.” The Whites won the average with a time of 16.4 seconds on three head, taking the title by a significant margin – 7.5 seconds. Both brothers acknowledged the pivotal role the other played in their win. “He (Tucker) stuck with me when I got into a slump in August and believed in me all year,” Cooper said. “He heeled good for me too. I could count on one hand how many steers he missed. He was rock-solid for me.” Their solidarity inside and outside the arena added up to $5,632 in Minot, plus a qualification to the RAMNational Circuit Finals Rodeo in Kissimmee, Fla., in the spring. “We’ve reached some of the goals on our list, and now we need to write some new ones,” Tucker said. “All of our family is excited to go to Florida. This will be a heck of a vacation for us.”
