For the third time, Demo crossed paths with Rosser Rodeo’s Trooper, and it ended with a 75.5-point win in Round 2. “Trooper was cool,” Demo said. “He’s starting to get a little age on him, but he’s a good bull to ride.” Although he’d never ridden Four Star Rodeo’s Magnum, Demo had seen him in action many times, and the two squared off for a Round 3 win at 82 points. “Magnum was exactly what I thought it would feel like,” Demo said. “He has so much air and up and down. I knew he’d be a good ride, and he was.” His Lancaster, Calif., win was a welcome sight for the 23-year-old, Red Bluff cowboy. “It’s great getting the ball rolling right off the bat since we just started the season,” Demo said. “I accomplished most of my goals for my circuit this year. I’m happy to be rodeoing and successful with it.” Fresh off his rookie year, Demo ranked ninth in the 2019 PRCA | Resistol Rookie Standings with $15,535 and ranked second in the California Circuit standings with $15,828. Demo was off to a late start in the 2019 season due to a broken hand, but he was back in the chutes by March. “The season was up and down, a little bumpy, but we got it back together by the end,” Demo said. His permit experience was about the same, ranking fourth in the California Circuit standings in 2017 and 2018. In the PRCA | RAMRodeo Permit Standings, he ranked fifth in 2017 with $19,559 and fourth in 2018 with $22,090. While on his permit, Demo figured out where to go and when to get the most bang for his buck on the ProRodeo road. “I have a fair idea on how to make it now,” Demo said. “I’ll be going everywhere.” He’s ready to dive into the 2020 season with his eye on the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. “Hopefully I can make the NFR soon,” Demo said. So far, the California cowboy has gone as far as Louisiana for rodeo, but he’ll be trekking farther east than ever before for the RAMNational Circuit Finals Rodeo in Kissimmee, Fla. “I’m excited to be riding there, but Kissimmee will be just another rodeo since we’ve all seen each other all year long, so I’ll just keep it simple since there will be a lot of good guys there,” Demo said. “I’m excited to hold a crocodile. I’ve never seen one before.”
