Butte. They live about 20 miles apart. “Turner and I have roped together at least five years, maybe going on six years,” Carson said. “We actually are kind of neighbors. We live pretty close, we practice together a lot, and it works out. We both have families and have the same mind-set on traveling. He ranches, and we ranch. It works out well.” Both men know that about the time of the RAMNCFR it’s also calving season. “It will be a nice little break,” Harris said about rodeoing in Florida. “We start calving a couple weeks after that. It’ll be nice to go down there and do that before we get busy.” With their livelihood depending on their ranching, it would take a pretty good score to get Harris and Carson to rodeo much out of their circuit. “We won’t rodeo hard because we ranch and stuff,” Carson said. “We’d be more tempted to dang sure go to Denver and see how it goes, maybe try to get into some of them if we get in. If we do well at Kissimmee a guy might try to go to a few more.” Harris echoed that. “Usually we just go to circuit rodeos and amateurs,” he said. “We ventured out a little bit more this year. It was good to get that win. It didn’t seem like it was going to happen after that second round. I’d say it (rodeoing more) depends on what happens in Kissimmee. We have a few circuit rodeos

and we’ll maybe go to a few more. If we could get a little money won down there it’d be too enticing not to try it.” SUNSHINE STATE BOUND Harris, his wife and son are planning to extend their trip to Kissimmee a bit while they’re down there. “I’ve never been to Florida,” Harris said. “My boy will be 2 in December. We’re going to go a few days early and do a little site seeing and then go compete. I think we’re going to go there (Disney World) one day and walk around and go on a few rides with him.” As exciting as his first three circuit finals rodeo wins were, the one this year might be a bit more memorable for Carson. “It’s pretty neat, but probably neater yet because I have two little boys who are 8 and 9,” Carson said. “They were pretty excited to get to go to Florida.” Cannin and Cashin only have a few months to wait until they get to take in the RAMNational Circuit Finals Rodeo, March 21-24. Though they’ll all have just as much fun, because they’re older, Carson’s boys will probably go on a few more rides than Harris’. “My wife (Dawn) and the boys have been hacking on me and my partner for the last five years (to get the win),” laughed Carson.
