Breuer gets key win in Omaha RIVER CITY RODEO OMAHA, NEB.

BY TANNER BARTH T The late season push to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge is not for the faint of heart, just ask veteran bareback rider Ty Breuer about his last 30 days. In the month of September, Breuer traveled to 14 rodeos in 10 different states. Over that stretch, he earned over $20,000 toward the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. No rodeo came at a more important time than the Omaha (Neb.) River City Rodeo, Sept. 23-24. Breuer matched up with Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Hangover for 83 points and the rodeo win. “I had a really good horse of Cervi’s, and I was really happy that I even got to draw it there,” said Breuer, 32. “I went to a ton of rodeos that week. So, I just kept my head up and stuck to the basics of bareback riding. It just happened to all work out for me.” The win put $3,349 in his pocket, making it a key late-season payday in the race to qualify for the Wrangler NFR. As of Sept. 29, Breuer was sitting 15th in the world standings, just ahead of Wyatt Denny in the No. 16 spot. He said the win couldn’t have come at a better time. “It really was a huge win for me. When a guy is on the bubble like that, any place you can get a win or even a check is a big deal,” he said. “That rodeo did a lot for me as I tried to get back into the Finals. Breuer said his original plan was to travel to the East Coast in the waning days of the 2022 ProRodeo regular season, but the win in the Cornhusker State changed those plans. “I think I’m where I need to be now, so I made the decision to come home,” Breuer said. “I was planning to go out to Cumberland, Maine, but now I’m here at home baling hay. I’ll take a little time off then get back to it in a couple weeks for my Circuit Finals.”
