Ote Berry knew he needed a quick run in the final round to pick up his second world title in 1990. Mike Smith, still awaiting his 10th round run, was on his way to $54,933 in NFR cash and had climbed from 13th to first after nine rounds. Curry placed in six rounds and set an NFR average record of 800 points on 10 head that still stands but finished the season $7,686 behind reigning world champ Jim Sharp in the world standings.
