Kelly captured the biggest win of his career – the Reno Rodeo – with 168 points on two head. He secured the victory with an 87-point trip on Rosser Rodeo’s Sweet Justice in the finals. “It is unreal,” said Kelly, 24. “Like I said in the arena, you start ProRodeoing at 18 and you hear about the elusive Reno and it is always a rodeo you want to win and to win it now at a young age is unreal.” Coming into the final day of Reno, June 24, Kelly was in the top 40 of the PRCA | RAM World Standings. After earning $15,696 at the rodeo, Kelly moved up to 22nd in the world standings with $47,803. “I really have been trusting in the Lord and trusting in his timing and

“This is just steppingstones. All of us want to make the Finals and if it shakes out that way, then perfect. My goal is to crack the Top 15 by the end of July and coast on in until the end of September.” Kelly acknowledged he’s taking a new approach each time he climbs aboard bulls. “I just (try and stay) calm, cool and controlled,” he said. “I started reading a lot of books and I’m reading a book called “Blessed and Unstoppable” and it carries you through faith and how to achieve your goals. I just feel so calm. I used to get all fired up and that works for some people, but it wasn’t working for me, so I had to change something.”
